About VisitBasilicata.com

An independent travel portal for Basilicata in southern Italy.

VisitBasilicata.com exists to answer the questions that come up when you plan a trip to Basilicata: where to go, how long to stay, how to get between places, and what is worth booking ahead.

What the site covers

We cover the whole region, from Matera to the villages and parks that many visitors miss. The site is organised as a portal: region-wide pages on tours, itineraries, transport, practicalities, seasons and where to stay, plus nine destination guides, each with six pages.

How we work

  • Accuracy first. We would rather say “around” or “check current rates” than print a price or opening time that will be wrong next season. Entry rules, fares and timetables change; always confirm with official sources.
  • Real products only. Every tour and ticket we list is a real GetYourGuide product or page, and every hotel a real property on Booking.com. Where coverage of a destination is thin, we say so.
  • Independent. We are not the official tourist board or any government body.
  • Free images, credited. Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are listed on our image credits page.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use and is supported by affiliate commissions: if you book a tour or hotel through one of our links we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
